Privacy Policy for ReplyBot
Introduction
At VerdinApps, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Chrome extension, ReplyBot, does not collect, store, or share any personal data without your explicit action. This privacy policy explains how our extension handles your data and the permissions required for it to function.
Data Collection
We do not collect any personal data, browsing history, or background information from users. All text selections, prompts, and generated replies are stored temporarily and locally in your browser. No data is transmitted to any server unless you explicitly request a reply generation.
Permissions
The following permissions are required for ReplyBot to function:
-
storage
This permission is used to save your copied text, prompt preferences, and daily usage count locally on your device. This ensures your experience is consistent across sessions without requiring a backend or cloud sync. -
activeTab
This permission is used to detect the platform (e.g., X, LinkedIn, Google) you are currently using. This allows ReplyBot to customize placeholder prompts for better relevance. -
contextMenus
This permission enables the right-click menu option ("Generate Reply") so you can easily select content from webpages and trigger reply generation. -
scripting
This permission is required to inject helper scripts into the active tab to access selected text when you copy content. -
tabs
This permission allows ReplyBot to read metadata such as the page title and URL of open tabs. It helps improve platform detection and provides contextual suggestions without accessing the page content itself.
Third-Party API
Our extension uses third-party AI APIs to generate contextual replies only when you explicitly request one.
OpenAI API
- As of March 1, 2023, OpenAI retains API data (prompts and responses) for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse and misuse.
- OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train or improve its models.
- You can read OpenAI’s data usage policy here: https://platform.openai.com/docs/data-usage-policy
- For enterprise and business data handling: https://openai.com/enterprise-privacy
Gemini API (by Google)
- Google may retain inputs and outputs for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring and compliance purposes.
- Input data sent to the Gemini API is not used for training models unless explicitly opted in.
- You can read Google’s Gemini API usage policies here: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/usage-policies
- For Google Cloud and enterprise data handling: https://cloud.google.com/vertex-ai/generative-ai/docs/data-governance
Data Security
ReplyBot processes your selected context and prompt within your browser until you click the "Generate Reply" button. At that point:
- The data is sent to the selected third-party AI provider (OpenAI or Gemini).
- We do not collect, log, or store this data ourselves.
- The response is returned and displayed in the extension only for your personal use.
Important:
Because your selected content is sent to external APIs, do not include confidential or sensitive information, such as internal emails, financial data, or private identifiers. ReplyBot is intended for general-purpose, public content replies. Please avoid using it for official or proprietary business communication.
Third-Party Services
ReplyBot does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Your data is not shared with any entity outside of the AI APIs you choose to interact with.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
